Tears of a Tiger

The book Tears of a Tiger by Sharon M. Draper, is basically the second part to Forged by Fire. In this book, it's from Gerald's friend Andy's point of view. The book starts from the car crash in Forged by Fire when Andy was drunk driving. They crash into a building and they all escape except for Rob. The car catches on fire and Rob was stuck and died.

After trying to get away from Rob's death, no one can get over it. especially Andy. His morale changes completely. He is always sad, and he doesn't hang out with his friends anymore. He keeps hating him self and won't forgive himself for what he's done. His drivers license was taken away but he doesn't even care about anything anymore. His friends try to cheer him up but they know that he won't recover that much from it.

Andy starts to act like himself less and less as days pass. He goes into grief mode as he cannot get past all the guilt and pain he has put on himself. Andy becomes more solitary to himself then ever before. He thinks that he doesn't deserve to live any more. Two other people that were with him were his friends B.J. and Tyrone. They all change after the accident. B.J. starts to pray and Tyrone tries different ways to get over it then B.J. Andy is the one affected the most because he was the one who was driving and put everyone's lives at risk.

Andy doesn't want to live anymore and everyone knows what hes thinking. They all try to cheer him up and change his mind or change his behavior before it gets out of hand. But it was to late. One day after school Andy gets home and grabs his fathers shotgun. He fills it up with ammo and commits suicide by shooting himself. When his mother gets home with his little brother they see Andy's blood dripping from the ceiling.

Everyone that was a close friend of Andy, had an emotional breakdown. They thought that this was bigger than what happened to Rob because that was an accident. But this was in Andy's hands. He wanted to do this to himself because he knew that he would never forgive himself. This story had a cause and effect from the beginning to the end. The cause was the car crash and the effect was Andy's suicide.
