After Ever After by Jordan Sonnenblick is a sequel to Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. Jeffery is now in high school and has cancer behind him. However he does worry it will return. He now has to worry about school, friends and girls. Usually he would ask Steven for help but Steven has flown to Africa to try to "find himself." His friend Tad has some plan for him and Jeffery for school and a new girl Lindsey who moved from California likes Jeffery. There are a lot of relationships in this story but the biggest one are with Lindsey, Steven, ans Tad.
Jeffery's relationship with Lindsey starred in school when Jeffery first saw her.She was kneeling on the floor trying to gather all her things that have scattered all over the floor. Jeffery decided to help her and that was how they met. Jeffery falls in love with her and she thinks that Jeffery is cute. That freaked Jeffery out. They end up dating throughout the entire story.
Jeffery's relationship with Steven was huge before Steven dropped out of college to go to Africa. He wanted to "find himself and go his own way." What it really meant was that he wanted to go to do everything by himself. He didn't get to do anything by himself before that. Steven only chose to go to New York University because Annette was going to Julliard. He also wanted to stay near Jeffery just in case. Also every night he would go back to his dorm and have to answer Jeffery's emails before doing his work or studying. So when Steven went to home for break, he explained everything to his parent sand went to Africa.
His relationship with his best friend Tad was the biggest because Tad was a cancer survivor but then gets cancer again. Him and Tad train each other for school. Tad tutors Jeffery for math and Jeffery trains Tad in gym to get out of his wheel chair. However their relationship is biggest in the end. Tad still has to go to Philadelphia to keep getting treatments for his cancer that he had. But then about a few months later he finds out he gets cancer again. This makes Jeffery make a bike-a-thon for Tad. He tries to raise money for Tad's treatment. Tad takes Jeffery's I-pod and make a playlist for him to listen to during the bike ride. On the day of the bike-a-thon, Jeffery finds out Tad dies from cancer and finds out what the playlist was. It was all sad songs to make Jeffery more determined to finish the race and it helps. A month later Jeffery is sitting next to Tad in the Cemetery to visit him.
Jeffery has lots of relationships in the story but the biggest ones were with Lindsey, Steven, and Tad. They all affect Jeffery in a huge way that can never wear off in his life.
